Necklaces
When buying jewelry for a gift it’s hard to pick
rings or bracelets because they need to be the right size. Necklaces
are an easier pick. While necklaces come in a few different sizes it
is easier to determine what will work best because there are standard
lengths.
Adjustable necklaces have several links for the clasp to attach to and
give the wearer a few options as far as length. Different lengths are
appropriate for different occasions, knowing what looks best with what
is being worn will keep lines of the clothing from being interrupted.
Collar length is the shortest, about twelve to thirteen inches, and
works best for those with thin necks or with outfits that accentuate
the neck. Choker length is just a little shorter at fourteen to sixteen
inches; this length should rest just below the neck and will also draw
attention to the area.
The princess length is the standard length at about seventeen to nineteen
inches, just make sure the collar of the top being worn either falls
above or below the necklace. Matinee style is just a little longer (twenty
to twenty four inches) and is great for work wear because it adds a
touch of elegance. Longer necklaces like opera length (28-34”)
and rope length (45” and up) draw attention towards chest and
torso and are best worn with elegant, simple clothing.
